Water Stewardship
Water is an inorganic, transparent, colorless, and odorless chemical substance yet it is an essential to all of mankind. Madera Coalition for Community Justice has earned a two year grant to integrate Madera County and safe, clean, and affordable drinking water. This project intends to activate new thinking, social interaction, cooperative and collaborative activities, real life learning, and problem solving all while making an impact for clean drinking water.
Madera Water Stewardship Program will empower community members to be informed about issues of contamination, testing, reporting, protection, fees, rehabilitation of wells, and new infrastructure. We will recruit and train a cohort of both adults and youth from low income, minority, and farmworker communities to take initiative and advocate for the issue.
Community awareness is an essential to executing this project effectively. We will educate the community through in depth introductions of environmental justice, community mapping, and guest presentations.
